In the above photo, I am channelling perhaps my favorite Star Wars heroine aside from the obvious (Princess and General Leia)... Jyn Erso āļøš«āØ
One thing I love about the Rogue One prequel is the arch narrative of the father-daughter relationship. Whereas Leiaās relationship to her father Darth Vader is clearly toxic, Jyn Ersoās relationship with Galen is deep and nourishing - he affectionately calls her Stardust and names the file to the Death Star plans after the nickname of his beloved daughter.
I post this on a Tuesday, traditionally known as Mars Day, as Mars is the ruling planet of this day. Mars is our planet of action, passions and how we choose to be driven by desire, how we direct our lives. In short, Mars is mission-driven. It is sometimes associated with conflict and aggression, and in terms of the Star Wars analogy, I find myself relating more to Leiaās relationship to her father but truly longing for the one Jyn Erso shares with hers. The term ādaddy issuesā is real for so many women Iāve met in my life but that conversation is for a different post. Aries is the sign that is ruled by Mars, and Libra is the āantidoteā to that intense Mars energy we can get wrapped up in, with Aries ruling the head, the self, self-awareness, 1st house āI amā - Libra is ruled by Venus, correlates with the 7th house of Others or partnerships...and is focused on bringing about harmony through balancing + cooperation.
So here I am, as a hybrid of Jyn and Leia, hoping to bring internal balance for that paternal anger and rage living inside me and around me in the collective; it is a rough interior landscape and one only I can learn to navigate if I truly want peace in my life- not just for myself, but for others. To be in right relation with myself and others takes a lot of awareness, the willingness to act on what is just and good in this world, and the commitment to love, rather than to hate. May we all strive to be as committed to love, hope and justice as Jyn was.
